Sample shipping

Should You Ship This Sample from China? Check These Things First

A sample is worth shipping overseas only when the visible quality, packaging, measurements, and supplier claims are consistent enough to justify the international shipping cost and waiting time.

Direct answer

  • Do not ship every sample overseas by default.
  • First check whether the received item matches supplier photos, quoted specs, packaging claims, variant details, and basic workmanship expectations.
  • If the sample already fails obvious points in China, ask for revision before spending more shipping time or money.

When this matters

  • The supplier can send a sample to a China address faster or cheaper than sending it overseas.
  • International sample shipping is expensive or slow for your category.
  • You need to decide whether a sample is worth forwarding, revising, comparing, or stopping.

What to check locally

  • Full product view, close-up details, packaging, label, logo, color, material, size, weight, finish, and visible defects.
  • Whether the sample matches supplier listing photos, quote details, chat promises, or spec sheet.
  • Whether packaging is protective, retail-ready, compressed, generic, damaged, or inconsistent with the supplier claim.

What a local sample check cannot replace

  • It does not replace your final hands-on product decision.
  • It does not replace lab testing, certification, formal inspection, or batch-level QC.
  • It helps decide whether the sample is worth sending overseas at all.

Fixed sample decisions

  • Ship to buyer when the sample is strong enough for final confirmation overseas.
  • Revise with supplier when issues are concrete and fixable.
  • Compare another sample when the sample is not terrible but not strong enough to trust alone.
  • Stop with this supplier when the sample clearly does not support continuing.
